The Douglas C-47D was the most widely used cargo and troop carrying aircraft of World War II. In addition to flying during the war, the plane also saw service during the Berlin Airlift and I'm sure the commercial version of this plane, the DC-3, is still in service all over the world today. The father of one of the people in our group flew in the Berlin Airlift. For those of you too young to have any idea what the Berlin Airlift was, you really should find out more about this vast humanitarian effort that occurred soon after World War II.
