The Martin B-26 Marauder was a high-speed medium bomber that saw extensive service throughout World War II. The early versions of the plane had unflattering nicknames like "Widow Maker" because of its poor safety record. These problems were eventually overcome and the aircraft performed impressively once the modifications were made. There is a web site that has lots more information about this plane.
