This B-36 bomber is an absolutely huge aircraft with three propeller engines and two jet engines on each wing. This bomber was in service from 1949 to 1958, but never served in combat. It was superceded by jet bombers like the B-52. The plane is so large that, when the museum was first built, the B-36 was put in place and the museum walls were built around it.
